Conference Venue
Welcome to Ampere2019 and welcome to Valencia. We hope that you have an exciting experience during this week.
The conference will be held at the third floor (terrace) of The Polytechnic City of Innovation (CPI). The CPI is the Science Park of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV)
The Science Park is conceived as a space, not only in physical terms, to connect university, business and society in order to streamline the generation of knowledge-intensive activities.
To access the conference area you must go to the “Ciudad Politécnica de la Innovación (CPI)” building located in the street “Ingeniero Fausto Elio”, go to the entrance labeled with the four number and get the elevator (or the stairs) to the third floor (terrace). The main reception desk will be located in the Hall of the Blue Cube.
Welcome to Valencia
Located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, Valencia is the third largest city in Spain with a population of around 1.000.000 inhabitants. The city of Valencia has many attractions making it one of the best locations for congresses, tourists and trade in Europe. It has a modern transport network comprising the Manises International Airport, extensive road, motorway and railway networks, and one of the best ports in Europe, all providing easy access from any part of the globe. Thanks to its privileged location in the Mediterranean and a dynamic economy and cultural life, Valencia is enjoying growing prominence amongst other large European cities.
Accomodation
Due to the huge Valencia hotel offer, the Conference Organization does not manage hotel reservations.
Thinking in your best experience during the conference, we have selected some hotels around the city of Arts & Sciences Area in Valencia. This district is well connected by bus to the university (with scheduled buses each 5 or 10 min) and it is located in a lovely place just in front of the City of Arts and Sciences.

Transportation
By plane
The Valencia airport is about 12 km from the conference venue. It has direct flights with many European countries. Although some of them are non-daily, connections flights through Madrid, Barcelona or Mallorca airports are just less than one hour flight.
You can reach the city centre from the airport by taxi, by bus or by metro.
A taxi takes about 20 minutes to the city centre and costs about 20-25€.
A bus service called Valencia-Airport line 150 departs every 26 minutes from Monday to Friday and every 35 minutes on Saturdays (single fare 1.45€).
Underground service line 3 (red) and line 5 (green) from the airport to city centre stations depart every 10 minutes (single fare 4,50€). Approximate journey time: 30 minutes.
By train:
There are comfortable trains from Madrid and Barcelona. Speed train AVE connects Madrid-Valencia in a trip time of 1 hour and 35 minutes. The train station is located in the city centre. Click here for information on timetable and fares.
By car:
There are two major roads leading to Valencia, from Madrid (A-3) and from Barcelona and France (AP-7).
Transport in the city:
There is an extensive, low cost public transport network covering the city including bus, underground, tram and taxi. There are different tickets and fares available:
Bus: single ticket (on the bus) for 1,50€. Also available “bonobus” (10 trips, bought at kiosks for 8,50€).
Metro: single ticket fare from 1,50€ to 3,90€ depending on the route. Also available at metro stations the “bonometro” of 10 trips (ranging from 7,20€ to 20€). Combined bus-underground 1-3 day tickets are also available at kiosks.
Taxis: are not expensive (but there is a minimum fare of 4,90€ at daytime and 6€ after 22:00. Prices may vary for the summer period), and you can pick them up at taxi ranks or stop them in the street, or ask the reception desk to call one for you.
Bike: Valencia is a bike-friendly city with over 120 kilometres of cycle paths. There are many stores where you can rent a bike. You can also use the public bicycle system (Valenbisi).
Tourism in Valencia
In a single day, you can discover pretty towns and beautiful natural landscapes within easy reach of Valencia, practice a wide variety of sports, or enjoy the one hundred kilometres of magnificent beaches which stretch from the city itself along the coast. As night falls, Valencia has something for everyone, right through till dawn: this is one of the hottest night spots in the Mediterranean.
Valencia Old Town
Discover the historic city centre and its rich artistic heritage. You can visit the genuine Holy Grail at Valencia Cathedral; the Silk Exchange, a jewel of Gothic civil architecture; the Water Tribunal, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the Central Market, one of the largest and finest purveyors of fresh produce in Europe; the spectacular frescoes at the Church of San Nicolás; and many other breathtaking sites.
The City of Arts and Sciences
The City of Arts and Sciences (La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias) in Valencia is a spectacular and imposing space designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava. This centre for leisure and culture, with its avant-garde architecture, is set firmly within the 21st century. At the Hemisfèric one can see the very latest Imax films; there is also a planetarium and an innovative laser show. The Príncipe Felipe Science Museum is located in a spectacular building and offers exhibitions where touching is permitted and where visitors can run all sorts of fascinating hands-on experiments. The Oceanogràfic reproduces all the ecosystems on the planet, with an astounding diversity of flora and fauna. The Palau de les Arts, with its spectacular oval-shaped design, is the place for seeing the best operas, concerts and stage performances. Lastly, the Ágora. This building was designed as a multifunctional, versatile space, suitable for hosting various different types of events.
Marina and Beaches
You can't truly discover the essence of Valencia without strolling through the city's seaside neighbourhoods, where the customs of the former fishermen are still present between small buildings of popular modernism.
The urban beaches of Las Arenas, El Cabanyal and La Malvarrosa, with its Seafront Promenade, and the Marina, which was created for the regattas of the America's cup, border these neighbourhoods and they are unique places to go for a walk and to enjoy Valencian cuisine.
